If there was one thing I could say to someone new to starting out online, I'd say it would be rolled up into these few things:

  • Don't try doing everything at once

You'll quickly learn there are a lot of ways to make money online...so many, that if you are new, you will probably start off trying something, then see something that promises more, then switch to that, then discover that offers more, and switch to that, and soon, you'll be so exhausted and confused, you'll wonder if anything at all works.

The fact is there are a TON of things that make a lot of money online, but you need to focus on one, and stick to it, and work it until either you see the results, or the proof that it doesn't work.

  • Make sure the stuff works.

There are scam artists out there everywhere, and most of the big money, do nothing systems are just money pits that suck you dry.  So if you see something that promises big money (100k or more) with no work, you can be guaranteed it will clean your wallet out.

You can verify something works by looking at the forums, and seeing what others say, by checking testimonials (see if you can track down the people making testimonials), and by contacting the support desk of the vendor and asking for some references that the claims are real.

A money back guarantee is pretty much standard good business practice, so make sure whatever you pick has one.

  • Hook up with the right people

Once you choose something to make money online, pick the folks that you can trust, and hang out where they hang out, like internet marketing forums (like this one!), blogs, and the forums of whatever product you decide to buy.  You might want to look up the reputation of the folks you decide to go with, to see the results others are getting.  Unfortunately, when people start making really good money, they shut up, and competitors often create fake complaints against people and systems that really do work, to try to stop people from using the system.

  • Start off with something simple

Truth is, marketing online can be super complicated.  The guys that are making $10,000,000 a year are not loners - they have teams of people doing all sorts of things...but the main lesson is to keep it simple at first, something that works without driving you insane, and then once you figure that out, you can add on more ideas, and compound your earnings.  Golden lesson is don't jump around and get yourself burned out.

So, you might wonder, what is the easiest, fastest way to get started making money online.  The reality is, the answer differs for everyone.  Personally, I like to get an affiliate link for a new service that will create long term subscribers, and then buy a domain that people might actually type in by mistake, and redirect them to the service with your affiliate link.  I do this with a few programs, and on average, I make about $500/month per domain, with absolutely no effort beyond setting up the redirect link.  But your mileage will vary, based on the program you choose, and the domain name you get.
